The first volume of a bilingual edition of Alexander Pushkin's poetry has now been published - in Russian and English - in the Alma Classics series.. 'Lyrics - Volume 1' contains the verse that he wrote as a schoolboy and a young adult. On leaving the prestigious Lycee at Tsarskoe Selo, Pushkin refused to do the expected thing and enter the Army or the Civil Service. Instead he became a man-about town, a skilled writer, a satirist and a lover. 'Lyrics -volume 1' -edited and annotated with skill and scholarship by Roger Clarke - includes ninteen of my own translations. [See Poem of the Month - May 2018]
